Title: HBS Tour Guides for the Harvard University Women in Business Conference

When: Friday, October 22nd 4:00-5:00pm

Where: HBS Campus

What: The HBS Admission offices is looking for 5-10 women to lead an hour long tour of the HBS campus for 100 women attending the Harvard University Women in Business Conference.  The tour path, main talking points, and basic structure will be provided by the admission office.  If you would be interested in helping, please email Kira Epler at kepler@mba2011.hbs.edu

[Academics] Celebrating and Connecting Female Entrepreneurs, a Boston Regional Entrepreneurship Week (BREW) Event

When: Oct. 14 from 3:00-6:00

  • 3:00 – 4:00 à Panel with 4 recent Female Entrepreneurs (Spangler Aud)
  • 4:00 – 5:00 à Speaker: Tom Stemberg, founder of Staples (Spangler Aud)
  • 5:00 – 6:00 à Networking Hour in Kresge for attendees of both events where Tom as well as other attendees, local female CEOs/Entrepreneurs will be available to talk and share their experiences in an informal setting (Kresge Lounge)
  • Attendees are welcome to attend ANY of these 3 hour-long sessions

Where: Spangler Aud & Kresge Lounge

What: "Myth busting in Massachusetts" The data are in and they show that women in Massachusetts are breaking barriers and busting myths by starting and leading venture backed companies at 6x the rate of any other state. Come hear a panel of four CEOs who are leading their venture backed companies right now talk about how they got here, where they are going and what lessons we could learn from their experiences. Also, meet women from the SHEos, a newly formed group of entrepreneurial CEOs which is already over 50 strong. A talk with Tom Stemberg, MBA '73, founder of Staples, on "Lessons Learned from an Entrepreneurial Career" and a Networking Reception will follow.

When: 20-30 minutes of time before Friday, October 15

What: Harvard Undergraduate Women in Business is running Business for Good (businessforgood.ning.com), a social enterprise business plan competition for college women around the world! We need mentors to briefly provide feedback to early-bird applicants so they can refine their brief applications before the final competition deadline of October 15. Mentorship requires only 20 minutes of your time! Please email Tara Suri at tara.suri@college.harvard.edu by Tuesday evening if you would like to mentor a college social entrepreneur.
