Title: Dare to Ask: The Guide to Successful Negotiating

When: February 15th, 2011, 3:30 PM – 4:15 PM

What:  The WSA is proud to present a  workshop on Effective Negotiation Skills  ­- come learn from the authors of the recently published book “Dare To Ask! The Woman’s Guidebook To Successful Negotiating” the key tools and tactics to successful negotiation targeted specifically at women navigating the business world.  This workshop has been presented successfully around the country to many businesses, law firms, the International Monetary Fund as well as at Business and Law schools. 

 About the Presenters:

  • Cait Clarke is Director of Public Interest Law Opportunities at Equal Justice Works in Washington, D.C. where she directs the largest legal fellowships program in the United States.  She has been a corporate and non-profit negotiation consultant and founding director of the National Defender Leadership Institute.
  • Neil Shister is the author of the best-seller the “Ten Minute Guide to Negotiating”. During his career he has been a correspondent for Time Magazine, television critic for The Miami Herald, editor-publisher of Atlanta Magazine, marketing vice-president for Inc. Magazine and Senior Vice President, Hill & Knowlton.
  • The book - http://womennegotiating.com/preface-to-dare-to-ask/ “Remarkably original and useful. This book builds on the latest academic research on the subject, offering thought provoking and practical advice. We train hundreds of seasoned women professionals who, despite their key positions in business, are reluctant to negotiate. Any woman will feel much more empowered after reading this. Title: The HBS Entertainment and Media Club Conference

When: February 12th, 2011

What:  The HBS Entertainment and Media Club is holding its annual conference on Saturday February 12th 2011. Keynote speakers include: 

  • Gerry Lopez, CEO and President of AMC Theatres
  • Matt Blank, Chairman and CEO of Showtime Networks
  • Jim Bell, Executive Producer of The Today Show

…along with industry executives to discuss whether this is the end of the road for traditional media or merely the next natural step of the industry’s evolution. The conference also includes an all women panel discussing the future model for the TV industry next Saturday:

What:  The WSA members are invited to the HLS Women's Law Association Conference on February 11th in Pound Hall.  The event is hosting many non-lawyers on panels this year that will interest business students including:

Registration is officially open for the Harvard WLA's 5th Annual Conference on February 11, 2011 - This is What Equality Looks Like: The World We Want for Women and Girls! We're very excited about our incredible list of speakers, and hope you can join us for all of what promises to be a fabulous day at Pound Hall on the HLS campus. Our keynote, Russlynn H. Ali, Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights at the Department of Education, will speak at noon and panel topics include Health & Equality, Equality & Economics, Equality on Both Sides of the Bench, and Equality for Girls.  Dinner at the Harvard Faculty Club will follow.
